Web development

Professional website design and development has several stages:

  1. Planning. At this stage, the designer creates a mockup known as a wireframe. Without using colors or going into graphic design details, this outlines how the website elements will be arranged.
  2. Design. Once the website’s functionality is clear, we dress it with the brand’s institutional colors and typography.
  3. Development. Once the design is approved by the client, we proceed to code the website. Depending on the project, it may be developed from scratch or based on a content management system or CMS.
  4. Functionality testing. Once development is complete, we test the different interactive sections, such as contact forms, content filters, and more.
  5. Delivery and training. Finally, we deliver the website, access credentials, and a manual to the client so they can manage it.

The importance of a wireframe

Although the wireframe stage is often skipped, this step is important, especially if the website will have complex features or be very large. In addition to arranging the website elements, it indicates what will happen when certain buttons are clicked, among other functions. It can be drawn by hand or created with specialized software. It is not interactive; it is simply a mockup without color, images, or final texts.

If the functions are too complex, a flowchart can also be created in addition to this outline to determine the processes the website will follow. However, most websites are merely informational and do not require this; still, this step is essential for developments more complex than a standard website, such as mobile apps.

Graphic design for websites

The next step is to dress the website with the brand’s images, colors, and typography. To do this, if the client has a graphic identity manual or a corporate identity manual, we follow the guidelines previously defined by the company’s graphic designer. If they do not have one, we create a proposal based on the logo, existing materials, or reference websites whose design the client finds attractive. At this stage, if the final texts are not yet available, sample content is uploaded. This stage may include one or several rounds of changes until the client is 100% satisfied with the website design.

Website development

Development consists of translating the existing website design into code. To do this, the programmer uses languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, among others. Although some people think that developing from scratch is always better, this idea is mistaken. There are frameworks and content management systems or CMS available on the market that reduce development time and facilitate work of equal or even superior quality compared to custom development from scratch. Once this phase is complete, functionality tests are carried out.

Testing

Testing includes verifying that contact forms work correctly, that each section of the website responds properly to user queries when clicked, that navigation is intuitive and simple, among other aspects. The type of testing depends on how many features the website has.

We deliver all access credentials so you can enjoy your website.

FAQ

We have a very talented team of web developers. We use content management systems to develop some websites, and we can also create custom developments from scratch. We adapt to different technologies and frameworks.

Content management systems are applications installed on a server that make it very easy to upload text, images, and other multimedia content. One of the most popular, and the one our team uses to develop most websites, is WordPress. This gives the client greater control over their content and prevents them from depending on highly specialized technicians to make updates to their website.

Custom development from scratch will always have the great advantage that you will be the sole owner of the code and will be able to control every aspect of how your system works.

However, for most cases in which companies or individuals need a website, content management systems are an appropriate solution for publishing easily and quickly on the web. In addition, uploading and modifying new content can be done relatively easily and will not always require a professional developer to make changes.

The development time for an average website is 15 to 20 days, considering it has a maximum of 20 pages. This timeline depends on the client providing the necessary information, as well as feedback at the end of each development stage.

For websites with ecommerce systems, the timeline may increase because agreements with shipping companies must be made, among other technical aspects that require at least a month and a half.

At Letras Laetas, we offer hosting services and can manage the purchase of your domain name for you. When you hire this service with us, we include five specialized technical support tickets in case you need any adjustments. Our response time is one business day, and no additional charge is generated.

Depending on the complexity and technical specifications of an average website, the cost can range from 500 USD to 5,000 USD or more.

For example, a one-page website would be in the lower range. Likewise, a landing page, which is also a one-page website but focused on SEM campaigns, would fall within this range.

A corporate website with 10 or 15 pages on average is around 1,300 USD, while ecommerce systems and more robust pages increase the development cost.
